Rick Hartmann is a native Long Islander who grew up during the golden age of space exploration. Influenced by the passion of discovery he pursued his formal training in the sciences and received degrees in both Aeronautical Science and Aerospace Engineering. Today, as a professional airline pilot, he continues to enjoy the fruits of technological advancement and expresses his passion for the human spirit through his art. Traveling the world and experiencing different cultures inspires him to connect human achievement with earthly beauty and plays out this harmonious relationship on canvas. His subject matter often involves familiar settings from a unique perspective which offer the viewer a chance to explore rather than observe.
Rick considers art, science and music as languages of his soul. His most influential masters of these languages range from Caravaggio to Bouguereau, Corpernicus to Einstein, and from Bach to the Beatles.
